Soft Tissue Infection Caused by Pasteurella multocida: A Rare Case

چکیده

Pasteurella multocida is a gram-negative, non-motile, oxidase positive, catalase indole urease negative, non-spore-forming coccobacillus. Animal bites, scratching, and licking are the most critical risk factors for infections, but it may also occur without any contact. Data about prevalence of these infections in Turkey limited because cases apply to primary healthcare institutions where bacterial culture cannot be performed, treated empirically. This report aims analyze soft-tissue infection caused by P. following an animal bite reported first time from Konya.

An unusual case of meningitis and pericardial tamponade caused by Pasteurella multocida after a cat bite is reported. The patient was successfully treated by antibiotics and pericardiocentesis and made an uneventful recovery from a life threatening condition.
